On June 14th, Newell-Faulkner Post 880 American Legion, held it's Flag burning ceremony on Flag Day. In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. When a flag is so tattered that it no longer fits to serve as a symbol of the United States, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning. Newell-Faulkner Post 880 American Legion and the Eden Boy Scouts of America collect American Flags through out the year and after careful inspection, the Legion decides which flags should be retired.
